Euthanasia is a way of painlessly ending a person’s, or animal’s, life if that being is in extreme pain or suffering and there are no other options. It seems to be moral; a good decision to make for someone suffering who is living as a vegetable. But is it right? This is a very conflicting matter. You don’t want a family member to go through that kind of pain. But ending their life is kind of like playing God. It’s deciding if someone should live or die.
Euthanasia can be asked for by someone who is in extreme pain to a physician. It is also known as mercy-killing and assisted suicide.
So, what do you think? Do you think that euthanasia is un-Catholic and that people shouldn’t decide when other people should go? Or do you think that, if that person is in enough pain, they should be euthanized? Could you bear that on your conscience? That you made the choice to have the doctor kill someone?
